(from “Stones Winds and Life”)
Clip clop…clip clop
The event is over now.
But the passing of the caisson echoes in the mind.
The sound of loss is loud.
The people were so very still.
Slowly, yet relentlessly, it passed
As if to call attention to a part of life itself.
Blessed are those that could not hear it.
Perhaps their hearts were torn in a lesser way.
To shut out this reality — impossible.
The immense heaviness of this sorrow on each is simply inescapable.
“England’s Rose,” Mr. John said.
This life bringing so much compassion and truth,
Quickly plucked before the world’s very eyes.
“Echoes” Backstory
What called to write “Echoes”?
The grief of a sobbing nation and world.
The loss which felt like it was to be forever.
The punctuation of the hooves; slowing time,
passing by miles of so very many.
A powerful silence that seemed to absorb the echoes
after the sound had done its job.
As she leaves more magic is cast.
She saw each as a precious being, a child of God.
Next time in lack of compassion,
Remember the silence.
Next time to judge,
Remember the sounds.
Next time to love,
Remember her smile.
Thank you, Princess Diana.
